The Reach for a Dream Foundation in Nelson Mandela Bay once again managed to melt the hearts of several children by fulfilling the dreams of those suffering from severe life-threatening illnesses.

The dreams fulfilled tied in with National Children’s Day that was celebrated at the weekend, Saturday, November 5.

One of the recipients, 16-year-old Sithethelele, couldn’t believe his eyes when local DJ and radio presenter, Kaycee Rossouw, surprised him with a visit, bearing gifts from the foundation.

Aspiring DJ, Sithethelele was surprised by radio presenter, Kaycee Rossouw as well as a laptop and DJ software.

Sithethelele, an aspiring DJ, received a laptop with DJ software.

Reach for a Dream Nelson Mandela Bay branch manager, Michelle van Huyssteen, said that since it is Sithethelele’s dream to become a DJ, he needed the necessary equipment to start him off on his music mixing journey.

“To make his dream day extra special, he was surprised by DJ Kaycee Rossouw from Algoa FM, who helped him discover and unpack all his dream surprises and gave him a few tips and encouragement.

“Sithethelele just could not stop smiling and his positive energy touched us all,” Van Huyssteen said.

Sithethelele’s grandmother, Agnes Mamle, said that her grandson is the happiest that she has ever seen him.

“He gets up in the morning and the first thing that he does is get on that laptop and start making music. I leave the house and that’s what he is busy with,” she said with a laugh.

“The whole family is happy. I knew about the foundation coming to fulfil his dream but I didn’t think that they would bring that expensive gift. I thought it was only going to be something small.

“I nearly cried when they gave him the gift. He was so happy,” Mamle said.

Juante wanted a bubblegum pink tablet for playing games.

Olwam couldn’t wait for her dad to start teaching her how to ride her new pink bicycle.

Sithethelele is not the only one who was left smiling from ear to ear. Another recipient, Olwam, has always wanted her own pink bicycle that her dad could teach her to ride, a dream that quickly became a reality.

“She is a sweet and loving child. Olwam was overwhelmed and overjoyed when she realised that it was her dream day and that the bicycle was hers.

“It was an emotional moment for the family as her mom said that this was the first time in a long time that she had seen her daughter smile after the dream was revealed,” Van Huyssteen said.

She also had the pleasure of fulfilling a dream for her namesake, little Michelle van Beulen, who adores the colour pink and Elsa from the movie, Frozen.

She was given a bubblegum pink tablet to play lots of games on.

“Another recipient also loved pink and that is Juante. She is also a fan of Barbie and Princess Sofia. She was also given her biggest dream: a bubblegum pink tablet for playing games,” Van Huyssteen said.
