DOCTOR Kayakazi Pumela Tabata recently handed over sponsored kit to the newly established KwaZakhele-based soccer club, Bay City FC, during a function that was held at the doctor’s surgery recently.
Tabata stated that she was approached by the club’s deputy chairperson, Lonwabo Sambane, some time ago, who explained to her that their side had no kit.
Tabata said, “He appealed to me to sponsor their club some time ago. I decided to lend some help to this club.
“The total sponsorship for the juniors and seniors was R6 000.
“I did this because the club is drawn mainly from KwaZakhele youth in the area that I have served for the past 26 years.
“The families in the area have supported my practice for that duration.
“This is an attempt to keep the youth away from the streets and from crime.”
Sambane stated that he explained his club’s plight to Tabata. “I told Tabata that Bay City had no kit at all. I was over the moon when she told me that she was going to make a sponsorship available to the club.
“Today is the day that we will never forget about. Tabata has ploughed back to the community.
“The boys are highly motivated by Tabata because she had added value to the community. I want to thank Tabata for making a huge difference to a club that had nothing at all,” said Sambane.
Tabata has sponsored two full sets of kit to City’s U/13 and senior teams.
Sambane stated that he was going to look after the kit.
Sambane informed PE Express that they had designed a checklist as a tool to control all their kit and some other items.
