DKMS AFRICA, the leading
stem cell registry and donor center, is set to host a Stem Cell Drive at Life
Mercantile & Life St George’s Hospitals on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24.
These events aim to raise awareness about the critical need
for stem cell donors and encourage the public to register as potential
lifesaving donors.
Stem cell transplants can be a life-changing treatment for
patients suffering from various blood-related disorders and cancers. However,
finding a matching donor can be a challenging process, and events like these
play a crucial role in expanding the donor pool.
The
Stem Cell Drive will take place at Life Mercantile Hospital on Thursday, November 23, and at Life St Georges Hospital on Friday, November 24 from 10:00 to 15:00.
Members of the public are invited to attend and register
as potential stem cell donors. The registration process is simple and involves
completing a health questionnaire and providing a swab of the inside of the
cheek.
DKMS
AFRICA is dedicated to the fight against blood cancers and disorders, and this
event aligns with their mission to increase the chances of finding matching
donors for those in need. By participating in the Stem Cell Drive, individuals
can make a significant impact on the lives of patients awaiting a stem cell
transplant.
“Every new donor
registration brings hope to patients and their families, and we encourage the
community to join us in this life-saving effort.”
