Beach Clean-up: The Boardwalk, Pick n Pay and Boardwalk Mall are appealing to Gqeberha residents to assist them again on Saturday, October 19, at Hobie Beach from 09:00 to 11:00. The July clean-up attracted approximately 200 participants resulting in the removal of 11 wheelie bins of waste from Hobie Beach and the surrounding area. The waste collected included 10kg of cardboard and paper, 3,7kg of PET, 2.8kg of aluminium cans, 17,4kg of glass 12,5kg of plastic and 8.6kg of steel. Five of the wheelie bins contained non-recyclable material.

Beach Clean-up: The next WESSA Algoa Bay branch beach clean-up will be at the Patti beach at Cape Recife on Saturday, October 19 from 09:30 to 10:30. To get there, coming from Summerstrand, turn left off Marine Drive towards Pine Lodge. Drive past Pine Lodge and stop at the boom which is the entrance to the Cape Recife Nature Reserve. Tell the security person there that you are participating in the WESSA beach clean-up, and they will let you through. Drive past the SANCCOB building and look out for the sign saying Pattis. Annual Bazaar: St Peter’s Congregational Church, Walter Road, Charlo, will have their annual bazaar on Saturday, October 19 from 08:00. There will be pony rides, an auction, carnival games, artists, a jumping castle, a car display, a vet vaccination drive, clothing, cakes, puddings, pancakes, bacon and egg rolls, boerewors rolls, bric a brac and refreshments. Golden Oldies: A golden oldies fundraising event by Greenville Primary will be held at The North Event Centre in Bloemendal on October 19 from 19:00 with DJ Ash The Bash. Gqeberha Central Men’s Shed: They meet every Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 at The Athenaeum, Athol Fugard Terrace (Belmont Terrace), between Castle Hill and Military Road, opposite the Supreme Court. St Paul’s Anglican Church 170th: In celebration of the 170th anniversary of St Paul’s Anglican Church in Parsons Hill, a series of community-centred events will be hosted. An old-fashioned family games evening for the entire community will be held on Friday, October 18. It promises a night of fun, connection, and nostalgia. An afternoon of music titled ‘Let’s Praise’ will then be held on Saturday, October 19, with local musicians and choir singers. A special Service of Thanksgiving, which will be the culmination of the anniversary celebrations, will take place on Sunday, October 20, reflecting on their history, honouring those who have been part of the journey, and looking forward to the future with gratitude and hope.
