A total of 615 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in South Africa in the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, more than 600 people died due to
COVID-19 in South Africa.

According to the latest statement released by Health Minister,
Dr Zweli Mkhize last night, 615 more deaths were reported, bringing the country’s
death toll to 36 467.

All provinces except North West and Limpopo, recorded deaths
in the past 24 hours: KwaZulu-Natal (189), Western Cape (161), Eastern Cape (100),
Gauteng (99), Free State (41), Mpumalanga (16) and the Northern Cape (9).

“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed
and thank the healthcare workers who treated these patients,” Mkhize said.

The total number of new cases are 14 880, bringing the
total positive cases identified to 1 311 686, of which 248 996 are
active cases.

According to Mkhize, recoveries stand at 1 062 690, representing
a recovery rate of 80,9%
