Correction: Express incorrectly reported that it was a man who jumped from a Livingstone Hospital window. It was in fact a woman (65) who jumped out of a window at the hospital yesterday afternoon, resulting in her death.

An anonymous source close to the deceased witnessed the traumatic event and spoke to the PE Express, expressing concern and seeking answers.

“I don’t put any blame on the hospital, but I do wonder how that happened, and also hope that something is done to prevent this from happening again as this is not the first time it has occurred,” the source said.

According to the Department of Health spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, the incident occurred around 14:00. The patient had a history of mental health issues, and her family has been informed and received counseling from doctors.

“We regret the incident, which is regarded as an adverse event,” Kupelo said.

Kupelo mentioned that representatives from the department intend to visit the medical institution.
