THE Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival will be presenting As You Like It, a romantic comedy show at the Mannville Open Air Theatre at St George’s Park from today, Wednesday, March 6, to Saturday, March 16.

The show which rates as one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, features a cast of dynamic young performers under direction of Woodlands Dairy Showtime winning actor and theatre maker, Jacques Batista.

Approached by PESF to direct this year’s instalment of the longstanding open air event, Batista chose As You Like It for its social content that relates to events happening in the world today.

Leading the cast as Rosalind is Tarryn Light, opposite romantic interest Orlando, played by Glen McIlroy.

Cast in the role of Jacques is Jaydee Mulder whose portrayal of the character refreshes “All the world’s a stage” through physicality and language for a contemporary audience.

The show starts at 19:30 (excluding Sundays) at R65 for adults and R40 for learners. For block bookings, contact Helen on 041 581 1738.
