THE Community Chest Annual Winter Woolly Drive is kicking off on a high note this year with a new sponsor.

“We are very excited to welcome our new sponsor, SPAR Eastern Cape. Not only do they render great services in the Eastern Cape but they are also committed to helping the vulnerable in our communities,” said Community Chest Eastern Cape public relations officer, Colette Theron.

The Winter Woolly Drive started on Saturday and runs until the end of August. They are appealing to the public, schools and corporate bodies to support this worthy cause.

Community Chest, for many charity organisations, is the first point of call for help when a disaster occurs. The Winter Woolly Drive has been operating for over 20 years and reaches out to the needy throughout the Eastern Cape during the cold winter months.

“It is humbling to be able to partner with Community Chest in just one of their numerous initiatives, and we hope that through our small involvement, we can make a big difference in the lives of those who are so much less fortunate than most,” said SPAR EC sponsorship and events manager Alan Stapleton.

“This campaign plays a vital role in our communities. Many vulnerable families face huge challenges during the cold winter months such as lack of food, warm clothing and blankets,” Theron added.

Drop-off points for donations will be at various selected SPAR stores throughout the Eastern Cape. They can also be delivered to the Community Chest offices at 126 Second Avenue, Newton Park, or you can arrange for collection at 041 582 1592.
