MOTHERWELL-BASED Ikhamva Athletics Club is working around the clock to prepare themselves for the Frances Cape Town Marathon, which will take place on October 18.

According to club chairperson, Mike Mbambani, his club is doing its utmost best to make the athletes ready for the race. Mbambani said that his boys have been training to stay fit, while adhering to the national lockdown rules and regulations.

Mbambani said, “The boys have been training just to keep themselves fit. But from today (Sunday, July 19) onwards, we are now preparing for Frances Cape Town Marathon. This marathon will be virtual and it will be live on SABC3.”

Mbambani revealed that his athletes had started doing quality training, adjusting their programmes to aim for ultimate fitness, adding that most of their runners were around 70% fit. – SELBY MADIKANE
