MOTHERWELL School of Excellence (MSE) FC, formerly known as Young Ideas, hosted its end-of-season awards function at the Motherwell NU 30 Hall on Friday evening to honour their players and individuals who excelled in the 2017/2018 SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League.

According to MSE FC chairperson, Vuyisile Dyakalashe, the aim of the function was to motivate the players and technical officials who had been outstanding during the 2017/2018 SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League season.

Dyakalashe said their vision was to see the club produce quality players next season.

The former Young Ideas head coach and guest speaker, Thembelani ‘Bravo’ Mzalazala, stated that anything was possible if the players could only pull their socks up.

Mzalazala told them that disciplined players could realise their dreams easily.

Mzalazala said, “I want to urge players to respect their parents, technical committee and the club management. A disciplined team is a winning team.”

Head coach Vuyo January was also awarded a voucher by the MSE FC management for helping the club finish fifth on the SAFA NMB SAB Regional League log table.

Striker Sibongile ‘Punisher’ Marali received the top goalscorer award and goalkeeper Asanda Mari was voted the players’ player, while Malibongwe ‘Dollar’ Dickson was named player of the season.

Dickson told PE Express that his hard work had paid dividends for him.

Mari stated that he dedicated his award to the players because they played as a united side throughout the season and supported him as the captain.

Marali said that his side’s never-say-die spirit helped him to be a top goalscorer. MSE FC finished the league in fifth position on the SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League final log table. – SELBY MADIKANE
