CITY Lads’ women’s team won the SAFA Eastern Cape Sasol Ladies’ Coastal Stream League after they displayed great ability throughout the soccer season.

According to Lads’ head coach, Terry Krwekrwe, the Nelson Mandela Bay side played their hearts out. Lads had almost managed to go undefeated during the 2019 league season, but did suffer one loss to their runners-up, Birmingham City, in East London. The Gunners, as City Lads are affectionately known, managed to overcome Birmingham City 2–0 in their home game in New Brighton.

Lads did not have any draws and won 13 out 14 games. Lads collected 39 league points, while City lost two games, drew once and lost one game to Lads, with their league points being 37.

Krwekrwe said, “The competition was just tight between Lads and City. You can see the two points difference on the log table. When my side took on City, they play soccer of high standard.”

Krwekrwe informed PE Express that his side would have to face the winner of the Inland Stream. “These girls will play against those winners to determine the winners of the province,” he said.

Lads trounced the University of Fort Hare 6–0 in the last game of the season at New Brighton’s Chevrolet Stadium on Saturday.
