Formula 1 moves down under and back to Sunday races. So far, Red Bull and Max Verstappen have been ultra-dominant in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and more of the same is expected in Australia.

The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia, is a renowned semi-street circuit that has been a fixture on the Formula 1 calendar since 1996. Set around the picturesque Albert Park Lake and situated just south of Melbourne’s central business district, the circuit offers a unique blend of fast straights and challenging corners, making it a favourite among drivers and fans alike.

One of the highlights of the Albert Park Circuit is its fast and flowing layout, which demands precision and skill from drivers. The track’s proximity to the city skyline provides a stunning backdrop for racing action, adding to the spectacle of the Australian Grand Prix.

Over the years, the Albert Park Circuit has witnessed many memorable moments in Formula 1. One such highlight was in 2002 when Ralf Schumacher clinched victory for Williams-BMW in a dramatic race that saw multiple retirements and a thrilling battle for the podium positions. In 2013, Kimi Räikkönen secured a popular victory for Lotus, marking his first win since returning to Formula 1 after a two-year hiatus.

Overall, the Albert Park Circuit continues to be a cornerstone of the Formula 1 calendar, offering thrilling racing and unforgettable moments for drivers and fans alike.

Based on the opening two rounds of the season it is a given that Red Bull Racing starts this weekend as outright favourites. But it is also clear that the qualifying pace of the 2024 Red Bull hasn’t been as dominant as in previous years. Herein lies the smallest glimmer of hope. Ferrari has shown itself to have a good qualifying car and who knows what might be possible if they’re able to be in the lead of the race.

The Albert Park Circuit’s layout often leads to close racing and unpredictable results, further adding to the excitement. It wouldn’t be surprising to see underdog teams or drivers seize the opportunity and challenge Red Bull’s dominance, creating thrilling battles throughout the race.

Therefore, while Red Bull may enter as favourites, there is some hope that Ferrari and perhaps even McLaren can make something of a race at the Albert Park Circuit.
