TO the surprise of Motherwell NU 7 residents, certain teams have not been complying with nationwide lockdown regulations after they were seen ready to play at Motherwell High School grounds on Saturday.

Some junior players, who did not want their names to be known, informed a PE Express reporter that they were going to watch the tournament that was going to take place at Motherwell High School grounds.

The boys informed PE Express that practices resumed daily at Motherwell High School’s grounds.

When asked about the coronavirus pandemic, the boys indicated that they did not understand how the virus was spread.

The boys were wearing face masks, although it appeared as though they did not know what social distancing was or other regulations regarding the national lockdown.

One of the nearby residents chased the boys away from the sports field.

Not far from Motherwell High School, three players carrying sports bags saw PE Express.

One said that they were going to play games at Motherwell High School grounds because they felt lonely and bored since they were not playing games.

The player stated that he was fully aware that the country was under national lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. MOFA has warned all its clubs through its WhatsApp group not to take risks of playing games during lockdown.

Recently, Eastern Cape Sports Honourable MEC, Fezeka Bayeni, warned all the sports federations to inform their sports bodies to stop the tournaments from taking place.
