Centrestage leaps into the local spotlight, set to present their biggest show of the past decade, The Sensational Six, at the Hellenic Hall from August 3 to 8, and then at East London’s Guild Theatre on August 16 and 17.
Some of the best 1980s’ stadium rock bands are juxtaposed against their 2020 counterparts. Depeche Mode, Talking Heads and Bon Jovi, represent the colourful 80s, whereas the music of the current decade features Maroon 5, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons.
The Sensational Six is a follow-up to Centrestage’s smash hit show, The Magnificent 7, and is a farewell to their legendary front-man, Wayne Kallis, as he heads overseas in September.
The extraordinary new-look nine-piece band features Gino Fabbri on drums, Lineout’s Ronnie Van Jaarsveld on bass, Stephen Hurter and Wayne Kallis on guitar and Khanya Matomela on keys, along with vocalists Thuba Myeki, Tara-Jane Stern, Cailan Van Heerden and Tiffany Oosthuizen.
The PE shows have been extended from the initial run to include Tuesday, August 8, after the weekend of the 4th and 5th sold out almost immediately after the announcement of the show.
Tickets for August 3 and 8 are available at R240/R220 for eight or more through Wendy Thompson on 082 661 6921 or through Quicket. A Greek menu will be available at the venue.
All shows start at 19:30.
The Sensational Six is sponsored by Fitch & Leedes and Sovereign. Tickets for the East London Guild show are available at R250 through Computicket.
