Cheryl-Ann Kannemeyer was murdered two days after Christmas, allegedly by her husband, Colin Kannemeyer.

THE case against a former businessman from Gqeberha accused of murdering his wife has been postponed to April 3, pending further investigation.

Colin (Junior) Kannemeyer (57) is accused of murdering his wife, Cheryl-Ann Kannemeyer (61), a Gqeberha real estate agent, two days after Christmas.

Kannemeyer appeared briefly in the magistrate’s court in Gqeberha last Tuesday.

Family members of Cheryl-Ann also attended the court proceedings.

Kannemeyer has waived his application for bail, and is represented by Legal Aid South Africa.

He allegedly stabbed Cheryl-Ann to death on December 27 last year, in the driveway of their house in Parkside in the city’s northern suburbs.

Netwerk24 previously reported that Cheryl-Ann’s body was found in the front passenger seat of her Honda Jazz, with a rope around her neck, a cut to her throat, and multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

According to the police, Kannemeyer, who had been married to Cheryl-Ann for more than 30 years, was found behind the car with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. A knife was also found near him.

The provincial health department previously told Netwerk24 that Kannemeyer was allegedly intoxicated when he was admitted to the Livingstone Hospital in the city, with stab wounds.

Dexter Kannemeyer, the couple’s eldest son, previously said that his mother had been planning to divorce his father.

Netwerk24 previously reported that family members, friends, and colleagues of Cheryl-Ann described her at her funeral as a loving and gentle woman who was faithful to her husband and children.
