A caretaker at the Despatch Cemetery was rushed to hospital
after he was shot outside the premises yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 09:20.
The 50-year-old victim works from his private vehicle on a
daily basis, overseeing funerals. It is alleged that yesterday morning, he was
approached by an unknown man and shot whilst sitting in his car.
According to police spokesperson, Capt. Gerda Swart, the suspect
ran away and the victim was assisted at the scene by another man from a funeral
company.
“They rushed to hospital,” Swart said.
“A case of attempted murder was opened by Despatch SAPS and
the motive is unknown as nothing was taken or demanded. Investigations are
continuing,” Swart added.
