IN a result which had been expected by their loyal supporters, SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League side, Camper United FC, whacked MOFA Premier League cup specialists, Crystal Palace FC, 3-0 during the MOFA Mayoral Cup finals at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Sunday.
Camper defeated FC Angels 1-0 in the semi-finals at Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Friday, while Crystal Palace embarrassed Showvillage United 3-1 in the second semi-final at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium last Sunday.
Camper won the cup in 2017, lost it in 2018 and have now won it in 2019/2020.
Credit should go to their head coach, Gcobani Citwa, for the sterling performances in the Mayoral Cup successes.
Crystal Palace came into the game knowing that Camper did not perform well in their game against FC Angels.
Camper also played against PE Sundowns FC in a SAFA NMB SAB Regional League clash at Chevrolet Stadium, meaning that they played three games consecutively over three days without rest.
However, the Motherwell NU 12 lads were ready for the big showdown.
Camper utility player, Siphesihle Jiji Mkokeli, scored the opening goal in the first half, while Anele Mabheka Ngqunge registered Camper’s second goal in the second half.
Mkokeli completed his brace in the second half, which left the final score 3-0 to Camper.
