15-year-old Sherwood boy held at gunpoint during house robbery. SAPS makes arrest hours later.
A development occurred in a house robbery case managed by SAPS Kabega Park, resulting in an arrest made just hours after the incident, wherein a 15-year-old boy was held at gunpoint in his Sherwood home.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, the incident happened at about 14:00 on January 14, at Devon Place, Sherwood, where the boy was overpowered by two armed male suspects after he heard the dog barking.
“He was then kept at gunpoint while they ransacked the house for valuables,” Beetge reported about the incident.
“They fled the scene with a TV, Xbox, two laptops, two cellphones, a tablet, various jewelry, and a drone. The boy was uninjured in the incident,” Beetge stated, listing the items stolen during the robbery.
“A house robbery case was opened and is being investigated by SAPS Kabega Park,” he added.
Following the incident, Beetge stated that at about 19:30, the SAPS Kabega Park Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), joined by security companies, arrested a 24-year-old male suspect in Kuyga and confiscated a cellphone that was in his possession.
“It was later identified as one of the cellphones that was taken in the house robbery.”
“SAPS are hopeful to make more arrests and confiscations soon,” Beetge concluded.
