The
Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s Help Desk has received a major boost
following Atlas Security’s signing as one of the main sponsors to assist the
Chamber to expand this service to businesses in the ease of doing business.

The
Chamber operates a highly responsive Help Desk to assist its member companies
with obstacles they encounter with respect to ease of doing business. These
relate to a multitude of queries relating to municipal services, or information
relating to investments.

The
ease of doing business is an important aspect of creating a conducive
environment for business to thrive.

“We
are pleased that Atlas recognises the importance of this strategic resource by
coming on board as one of the major sponsors. This partnership will solidify
our work in this space and also enable us to increase the number of cases we
are dealing with on behalf of our members,” said Denise van Huyssteen, the
chief executive of the Chamber.

“Our
Help Desk plays a significant and integral part in highlighting some of the key
areas that negatively impact businesses in Nelson Mandela Bay. It is for this
reason that we have strengthened this area of our work to ensure that we take
away the cumbersome administrative process of having their problems resolved at
the municipality.”

In
2022, the Chamber resolved 70% of the queries received through the Help Desk,
26% were in progress while only 4% could not be resolved. Most of the queries
related to water leaks, with electricity and roads accounting for 15%.

The
Help Desk tracks the resolution rate constantly. “Over the past few years, the
resolution rate has dropped directly indicating the dysfunctionality of the municipality with a clear indication which departments are not functioning
properly. The Help Desk further assists geographic clusters with sharing
previous successes and assisting member companies through lessons learnt,” Van Huyssteen added.

Atlas
Security Marketing Manager, Ryan Morris said: “It is a privilege to be able to
take our relationship with the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber to new
heights through the sponsorship of the Help Desk. Our vision for a better
tomorrow within Nelson Mandela Bay aligns with the core values of the Business
Chamber, as a better tomorrow does not only revolve around security, but also
around a better lifestyle made possible by building a stronger business
environment. With successful business comes greater opportunities for all,
ultimately resulting in empowering the people of our incredible metro.”
