BLUE Ribbon injected funds into the development of grassroots sport when they sponsored soccer kits for the Motherwell NU 7 community club, Seven Sundowns Sports Club, recently.

According to Sundowns’ deputy chairperson, Mncedisi Thomas, their club approached Blue Ribbon to inform them of their plight.

“We had a meeting with Blue Ribbon in June last year, informing them that our club did not have financial muscle.

“Furthermore, we told Blue Ribbon manager, Enrico Windwaai, and sales manager, Charl de Lange, that our membership consisted of learners and unemployed youth who are very passionate about sport.

“The two gentlemen came to our rescue. They bought sets of kit for our four soccer teams, which are u/11, u/13, u/15 and a senior team, as well as kit for our netball team,” said Thomas.

“They told us that they would also buy another kit for each team.

“Blue Ribbon has helped to keep the youth off the streets.”

Thomas thanked the bakery for always supporting their club.

“Since they started to support Seven Sundowns, the spirit of the players has been very high.

“On behalf of Seven Sundowns, I would like to thank Blue Ribbon for their unwavering support to us.

“Their support means a lot to our community.

“We will always support their company because they boosted the morale of our children,” concluded Thomas.
