BISHO Stars suffered a huge setback when they went down 3-0 to SA Spears of the Nation FC during their ABC Motsepe League clash, which took place at Motherwell NU on Saturday.

Stars, which relocated to Motherwell at the start of the season, looked as though they would come up with the opening goal against the Bizana side.

However, Spears made their intentions clear that they were ready for their away game. The visitors managed to absorb the pressure from the hosts, momentarily.

Spears managed to draw blood first, after Bongani Shabangu scored a cracker that beat Stars’ goalkeeper, Lukhanyo July, in the 28th minute.

One of Stars’ defenders clipped the foot of Sifundo Mzimela in the box, with the referee awarding the penalty in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, Mzimela’s penalty shot was well saved by Stars’ goalkeeper July. Spears’ midfielder, Sive Mzolo, unleashed a hotshot that was also saved by July.

The visitors increased their lead to 2-0, after Ayanda Lembele found the back of the net in the 42nd minute.

The Bizana lads played their carpet football, with the hosts being kept on the back foot. Stars nearly found the back of the net, but Asiphe Mazondo’s strike hit the crossbar in the 49th minute, with Spears’ goalkeeper, Khanya Mini, well beaten.

Mzolo made a solo run down the right flank and sent a perfect cross to Shabangu, who scored his second goal in the 75th minute.

Then the hosts started to chase the shadows as the visitors displayed impressive football. Spears claimed a well-deserved 3-0 away victory.
