A 29-year-old biker that allegedly assaulted a woman following an accident in Nelson Mandela Bay a little over a week ago, was arrested and appeared in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court today.
The suspect, accompanied by his attorney, reported to the Walmer Police Station this morning, July 4. He was arrested and taken to court. He has officially been charged with cases of attempted murder and malicious damage to property before he was released on R2 000 bail.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the arrest follows an incident that took place in Circular Drive on June 25 where a 35-year-old woman was “severely attacked and assaulted by a group of bikers after she was involved in an accident with another biker.”
The victim’s sister took to social media and posted a video of the incident. In the video, it can be heard how the victim sobs whilst a large man in a black leather jacket approaches her car, yelling at her. Another man tries to hold him back and tells the man in the leather jacket that “they are recording.”
It can also be heard in the video that someone tells her in Afrikaans to “take the f***ing phone away. The phone seems to be knocked out of her hands and the alleged assault takes place.
The case has been postponed to August 17, 2022.
