THE Grades 3, 4 and 5 learners of Adolph Schauder Primary School were very happy to receive stationery and school sock packs from the staff and students from The IIE’s Varsity College Port Elizabeth.

The recent handover was as a result of the VC Cares (a student volunteer body) committee and VC Voice student body’s orientation week “Give Back” station on campus which provided students with the opportunity to package either a stationery pack or school sock pack with a personalised note of encouragement for the learners.

The Grades 3 and 4 classes received the stationery packs, while the Grade 5 classes received the school sock packs.

Earlene Jacobs, the head of student services at The IIE’s Varsity College Port Elizabeth, said, “As a campus, we aim at assisting each grade with items that are needed or that can make a positive difference.

“Following the stationery and school sock drive which took place in February, The VC Voice student body, along with the campus student information centre (library), is running a book drive on campus for the month of March to collect 140 story books (English or Afrikaans) for the Grade 1 and Grade 2 learners of Adolph Schauder Primary School,” Jacobs said. “We want to encourage reading from a young age and hopefully develop a love for reading”.
