THE South African award-winning Mi Casa, which is made up of the trio Dr Duda, J-Something and Mo-T, ran a competition on Instagram that called on all DJs and producers to remix their hit song, Nana.
Two brothers from Bethelsdorp comfortably won first place and will be heading on to a new venture alongside Mi Casa.
Ruwayne and Waven Sebia decided to take on music at the ages of 12 and 14 respectively. The duo who are known as “Jay Em” describe their music as “down-tempo” were recently announced as the winner of the remix competition and they will proceed to get a chance to work alongside the award-winning trio on a song.
“When we lost our close friend, Meelah Munnick, who composed the song, J’Adore, my brother and I decided to pursue a career of making music and trying to create a legacy for our friend,” said Waven.
The competition included a number of different DJs and producers from across South Africa, all in the running for an opportunity to work on a song with the award winning Mi Casa.
The competition allowed fans to upload their songs onto a website that was specifically designed for the competition and thereafter people across the nation could vote for their favourite version of the remixed song.
Jay Em proved to be a favourite among many South Africans and are very excited to share their “PE sound” with the rest of the nation.
“This is only the beginning for us; we are extremely excited because this means this is a step forward in our journey in the music industry,” said Ruwayne.
