Gqeberha police have opened a missing person report after a 39-year-old man was swept off a tidal pool wall by a wave at Beachview on Saturday, February 8,
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 12:20, a 39-year-old man was at Beachview walking on the back wall of a tidal pool when a wave knocked him off, causing him to fall into the water on the ocean side, where he disappeared under the water.
She stated that due to the challenging sea conditions at the time, it was not possible to deploy rescue swimmers and SAPS divers into the open water.
“SAPS will continue with patrols in the area.”
