IT was a dream come true for local presenter, Yolanda Masoka, when she walked away the winner of the Best TV Presenter category at the Live Your Dream SA Awards in Durban last month.

Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, Masoka (23) is a public relations and marketing management graduate, who started working for Mbono Communications this year.

She’s tried her hand at being an artist with two singles already released, as well as an MC who has shared the stage with artists such as Simmy, Nasty C and Okmalumkoolkat, to name a few.

But her true passion is being a presenter, something she gets to do part-time at Bay TV. She was the first person from Port Elizabeth to win the Best TV Presenter award.

“My passion for presenting started when I was in primary school. I was involved in a lot of school plays and musicals, and when it came to orals, I really loved standing out.

“That confident attitude I took to high school and people would compliment my confidence and that motivated me,” Masoka said. “While watching television I would imitate presenters such as Bonang Matheba and Pearl Modiade and I told myself no matter when and how, one day I will be able to live my dream.”

She said she draws her inspiration from various people, including Bastian Khumalo, Bonang Matheba and TDK Macassete.

“My short-term goals would be to finish my BA degree which I am currently studying through UNISA, as well as most definitely being booked for more amazing events this year and getting to have an opportunity to work with big names in the entertainment industry to gain more experience to grow as an individual,” she said.
