THE Irish dancers from McWilliams Academy of Dance continue to blaze a trail across South Africa and sharing their love of Irish dancing when they took part in the finals of Dans in Jou Taal in Pretoria on August 31.
The Nelson Mandela Bay dan-cers were victorious in their bid to win the overall senior category.
This is the first time that they have competed in the televised national dance competition and they were extremely humbled to be awarded prizes worth R50 000.
Dans in Jou Taal will be broadcast on KykNET NOU, channel 146, in January 2019.
The following day they competed at the City of Gold Irish Dancing Championships, where they also excelled.
Jenna Hayes won the senior category 16-18 years and Jemima Opperman and Shanna du Plessis were the joint winners of the senior category 13 years and under.
The studio also had many other dancers placed in the top five at the prestigious event.
They are now focusing on nationals, which will take place in Johannesburg at the end of the month.
