THE ArtEC Community Art Centre will be hosting an exhibition by internationally renowned local artist, Derrick Erasmus, from Wednesday, October 28.
Under the theme, The Masked Pixel, the exhibit intends to bridge the gap between traditional art mediums and online platforms.
Erasmus, also known as Rocky, has over the past 40 years produced drawings and paintings that have constantly focused on the extensive study of colour, form, abstracted figuration and his lifelong mask theme.
The theme behind the masked pixel exhibition is to highlight the significance of the historical use of masks as symbols of protection, crop harvesting, initiation, healing and ancestral representation. This exhibition will also be hosted in celebration of the winner of last year’s 100 Annual Exhibition.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Art community will be using this opportunity to give a worthy tribute to a remarkable teacher and dedicated artist of universal merit.
Erasmus, who serves as the hosting artist was also the winner of the 2019 Annual Exhibition.
The ArtEC gallery will also be showcasing the 101 Annual Exhibition, Enkosi Essential Workers, which was initially scheduled to be streamed and publicised in September, this year 2020. For more info, contact 041 585 3641 or e-mail manager@artecpe.co.za.
