A GENEROUS gift of 600 milk tarts from local businesses, and doctors volunteering 67 minutes of their time to lend a helping hand to staff members at Netcare Greenacres Hospital on July 17, in commemoration of Mandela Day, uplifted the healthcare workers at the hospital.
“On behalf of all of us at the hospital, I would like to thank the local businesses for the appreciation they have shown for our colleagues who are at the frontline of caring for patients during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic,” said André Bothma, general manager of Netcare Greenacres Hospital.
“Their unexpected gesture was a pleasant surprise for all,” said Bothma.
“I would like also to express our gratitude to the doctors for volunteering to assist our colleagues. Every person working in healthcare – whether they are nurses, porters, cleaners, administrative, technical, security or catering staff or doctors – is crucial to supporting the health and well-being of our patients and their communities, particularly during this unprecedented pandemic,” Bothma added.
