The Port Elizabeth Dance Festival is in celebratory mode – this year marks 40 years with Eastern Cape dancers and studios.

The prestigious festival was founded by Jennifer Abraham and Hermione Ballinger to provide stage performance opportunity for all dancers, the benefit of feedback from professional adjudicators, and the pure exuberance of a celebration of dance shared by all studios in the area.

PEDF has grown in leaps and bounds over the last four decades and is now proud to host every dance form including ballet, contemporary/modern, tap, hip-hop, Spanish, Indian, Irish, African, fusion/free movement/ballroom dancing, cheerleading and adaptive dance.

This year every participating dancer will receive a special PEDF commemorative medal.

All the traditional much-loved trophies and awards will be up for grabs as usual, as well as a few extra very special awards for 2021. The festival will culminate in a glitzy gala celebration which will feature the performance highlights of the festival, as well as the awards presentation.

The 40th anniversary event will run from August 23 to 28 at the Savoy Theatre.

Dance teachers from all dance studios in the Eastern Cape are invited to register their students for the festival by contacting PEDF secretary, Carol-Anne Cash, at pedancefestival@gmail.com or on 084 502 3300, before Friday, June 25.
