An alleged murderer handed himself over to police

An alleged murderer handed himself over to police in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) yesterday.

On Monday morning at approximately 07:00, police responded
to a complaint of a stabbing in Virgo Street in this area. Upon arrival,
members of the police were informed that the victim, Envor Louw, had already
been transported to hospital. However, the 21-year-old succumbed to his injuries
en route to the hospital.

According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van
Rensburg, Louw sustained one stab wound to the chest. “It is alleged that Louw
and the suspect were embroiled in a fight and during the scuffle, Louw was
allegedly stabbed [by the suspect]. The suspect handed himself over at the
Gelvandale police station,” she said.

“He was detained on a charge of murder and will appear in
the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court during the week,” she added.
