SAPS Mount Road members arrested an alleged suspect soon after
responding to a call of a housebreaking at a business premises in North End during the early hours of this morning, February 20.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that at approximately 02:00, police were attending to a
positive housebreaking when they noticed two people walking towards them.
“When
the woman saw them, she dropped her bag and ran off. The male, in his 30s, was
found carrying a high pressure Kärcher machine and cables. Another compressor was also
found near them,” Naidu explained.
“The stolen items were identified by the owner as belonging to
him. Entry to the premises was gained by breaking the glass door and burglar
bars,” she added.
The suspect is detained on charges of possession of suspected
stolen property and housebreaking. He is expected to appear in court soon.
