The National Rally Championship brings the Algoa National Rally 2024 to the Longmore Forest on July 5 and 6. The rally is a race where high-speed meets skill and bravery. It will take place at MTO Longmore Plantation. Since 1994, Longmore has played host to this event and the Algoa Rally acknowledged that their success is owed to the MTO staff at Ecotourism and the Plantation Managers.

According to the event’s press release, “the Petrefuel Algoa Rally Championship is just as ultra-competitive with some seriously fast drivers going all out to show that we mean business in the Eastern Cape.”

The three-night stages kick off Friday night for event 1 results, on Saturday, the Culturama Ultimate stage will make its second appearance. The endurance stage will be followed by 2 stages without service crew.

The landowners strictly affirm that no littering and fires are to be allowed. They also urge caution when driving and sticking to a safe speed. Mentorskraal Country Estate has welcomed the rally for the third year to allow them time to do speed tests, accommodating officials and competitors as well as opening their premises for registration.

In a press release, Toyota Gazoo Racing South Africa, one of the competitors wished to replicate their success in last year’s event where they achieved a double podium finish. The optimistic TGRSA’s Rally manager Guy Botterill said, “The cars performed exceptionally well in the previous round, and we are confident going into the Algoa Rally. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, the team has shown that it can compete at the highest levels. As such, we’re looking forward to a strong performance in Gqeberha.”

On the other hand, Volkswagen Motorsport expressed their confidence in the upcoming event in a press release. Gqeberha being their home, their driver Charl Michael said, “My first race was tough, but I was second on the grid for heat two and made my move into the lead at turn one and stayed ahead from there to thrill the Volkswagen people and my Gqeberha race fans with the race win.”

The race will have many other teams, with over 30 entries from Volkswagen, Toyota, Datsun, Ford and Subaru to name a few.
