KFC franchisee Alliance Foods SA recently donated kitchen essentials to Khayalethu Child and Youth Care Centre, a long-standing Add Hope beneficiary in Gqeberha.

KFC’s Add Hope, now in its 15th year, unites staff and customers in the fight against hunger. Through voluntary R2 donations from customers and KFC’s contributions, Add Hope has raised R1 billion since 2009. It partners with over 130 NPOs to feed 80 000 children daily across South Africa, supporting their growth and development.

The funds raised are managed by the KFC Social Responsibility Trust, which ensures all proceeds go directly to NPOs that provide essential nutrition to children and, in some cases, their families.

Wayne Hill, Head of Operations, at Alliance Foods SA, expressed his gratitude to the public, saying, “We are deeply thankful to our customers for their incredible support and for voting for us in the recent Bay’s Finest Awards. Without their contributions, we wouldn’t have been able to donate as much to our beneficiaries like Khayalethu. Their generosity makes it possible for us to make a real difference in the lives of so many children.”

Khayalethu Child and Youth Care Centre, located in Kragga Kamma, Theescombe, has been registered as a children’s home since 1996, offering intervention programs for at-risk boys aged five to 18. A beneficiary of Add Hope for over six years, the centre faced wear and tear on its kitchen equipment due to daily use. Alliance Foods SA donated much-needed appliances, including a gas stove, fridge, and freezer.

“Without KFC Add Hope support, we couldn’t provide our boys with the balanced meals they need,” said Marietjie van die Merwe, Director of Khayalethu Child and Youth Care Centre. “We also thank Alliance Foods SA for their generosity.”
