THE long-awaited ninth annual PE Comets’ Schools Basketball Tournament takes place at the Raymond Mhlaba Indoor Sports Centre from tomorrow, February 10, to Saturday, February 12.

According to PE Comets’ president, Sibongile Fondini, the motive behind running the tournament is to promote and encourage mass basketball participation at school level.

He said, “We are the only club that is very serious about the development of school basketball. We have no resources but we decided to run the schools’ basketball tournament from the little that we have.

“It has been long overdue. The tournament has not been run (the last two years) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During the tournament, compliance to COVID-19 protocols will be strictly ensured,” he said.
