ZWIDE Football Association (ZWIFA) Swartkops Sea Salt Premier League log leaders, Shooting Stars’ unbeaten record came to an abrupt end when they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Umanyano Stars at Shining Stars’ ground in Kwazakhele on Saturday.
Hundreds of football fans, who were outside Stars’ ground, watched what was described as the game of the season.
The game started at the fast pace, as each side wanted to break the ice. The goalkeepers of these two sides were kept busy but they were equal to the task.
The football of high standard was played with the players of both sides displaying their football skills. Ultimately, Umanyano Stars could not afford to lose in front of their home supporters, with them claiming a 3-2 win during their tough battle.
Golden Aces succumbed 6-2 to Zwide Pirates, while Shining Stars earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hungry Lions at Zwide Stadium on Saturday. Despite their 2-1 loss to Everton, Gal City played attractive game at Zwide Stadium on Saturday as well.
Strikers United, who are a force to be reckoned with, also registered an emphatic 5-2 victory over Soweto Angels at Zwide Stadium. Young Brothers, who are affectionately called Kubo by their diehard supporters, gave Really Crusaders a run for their money, although they lost 3-2 to Saders.
