An inquest docket has been opened by the Algoa Park SAPS
following the death of a 22-year-old man in a fire on Saturday April 16, 2022.
According to police
spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, a man residing in the Rholihala
settlement in Missionvale came to his demise when his dwelling caught fire.
“It is alleged that at about 19:20 police attended to a
complaint of fire where they found firefighters had already extinguished the
fire. The structure had been completely gutted and Lucky Lose, who was alone in
the dwelling at the time, died in the fire. A partially burnt paraffin heater
was found among the rubble,” Naidu said.
Naidu added that the fire spread rapidly as the
walls of the building was constructed with plywood and Lose could not get out
in time due to a leg impediment.
