After hundreds of entries, from the most adorable babies across Gqeberha, Baby Priya Margo Jacobs was crowned the winner of the PE Express Christmas Baby Competition 2024.
The joyous news has brought extra cheer to the Jacobs family as they prepare to celebrate Priya’s first Christmas.
Sharon Lorraine Jacobs, Priya’s proud mother, shared her excitement, “We are blessed indeed, celebrating the little one’s first Christmas, and we were super excited after the news that 7-month-old Priya won the competition.”
The Jacobs family follows a cherished Christmas tradition, starting with an early morning church service in festive attire.
“After church, we have family time, sitting down and opening gifts. Family time is one of the most important events for Christmas, and Priya will be introduced to all the food this year, so she’ll definitely be busy around the table,” Sharon explained.
Sharon vividly recalled the moment she received the winning news. “When I received the news of Priya winning the baby competition, I was at work. I was jumping up and down with excitement, but I couldn’t tell anyone why. I immediately phoned Priya’s sister and told her about the news, but we had to keep it under wraps.
After that, I phoned her father and her granny, so the four of us celebrated quietly.”
While the usual Christmas routine remains unchanged, a bit more planning is needed to accommodate Priya’s presence. Sharon mentioned how fortunate they are to have family support, “We have lots of hands helping around, like Oupa and Mamma (granny), who are always around.”
As for little Priya’s festive favourites, Sharon said, “Priya will definitely enjoy the Christmas tree and setting up the lights. I think all the lights and the decorations on the Christmas tree will be the highlight for her.”
Describing Priya, Sharon said, “She’s a cheeky, boss lady who’s very demanding and always wants it her way. But she is very lady-like and can be sweet and bubbly at times.”
With three siblings, Hayley (18), Sofia (17), and Luke (22), Priya is sure to have a delightful and eventful Christmas, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family.
