THE intrepid pilots from PE Radio Flyers are eager and ready to take to the air again in the 2022 Model Airshow this weekend, July 2 and 3.

This follows a two-year grounding due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pilots have been busy putting the final touches to a number of new aircraft, with this year promising to be an airshow not to be missed. The number of aircraft to be seen totals almost 70, with even more on static display in the display centre.

The programme includes various World War 1 aircraft, jet turbine aircraft, electric aircraft, 3D aerobatic displays, a mass cub display, and a host of other aircraft. The electric speed displays will demonstrate electrically powered aircraft at speeds up to and exceeding 200km/h. Of great interest to the children will be the very popular sweet drop where 1kg of sweets are dropped from an aircraft, and the kids scramble for their share of the spoils.

The airshow will run from 10:00 to 16:00 at the PE Radio Flyers airfield, just off the Rocklands Road.

Ample signage will be visible from the St Albans Prison on Old Cape Road.

A variety of delicious food and drink items will be on sale in the kitchen at a reasonable price.

Tickets are available at R30 per adults, R20 for children under the age of 18, and free entry for preschool children.
