Detectives at SAPS Bethelsdorp are appealing to the community to assist them in tracing the suspects involved in the murders of two men on Wednesday, July 27 in Salt Lake.
It is alleged that at about 23:00 on the mentioned date, police attended to a complaint at a house in Rensburg Street in Arcadia. On arrival, the body of Denwin Syse (45) was found lying outside the gate. He sustained multiple injuries on his body.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that it was further alleged that a group of men arrived at the house and while forcing the gate open, Syse appeared after hearing the dog barking. He was allegedly dragged out of the yard and severely assaulted with a baseball bat, hammer and a panga. He died at the scene.
“Police later established that another male was taken to hospital prior to police arrival. Sylvester Syse (age unknown) also sustained severe injuries due to the grievous assault. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital [yesterday] morning, July 29,” Naidu said.
“The motive for the senseless attack is yet to be established. Suspects are unknown at this stage,” she added.
