Two separate accidents claims lives in Gqeberha this weekend




Two cases of culpable homicide are under investigation following the death of two people in separate accidents this weekend.

According to police spokesperson Colonel
Priscilla Naidu, in the first accident, at about 19:40 on Saturday, a 48-year-old
man died when his Toyota Quantum minibus overturned on the Van Stadens Road
towards Blue Horizon Bay. 

“The driver, Duwain Bergens was
found lying dead next to the vehicle. It is unclear how many passengers were in
the vehicle as they were taken to hospital prior to police arrival.
Circumstances relating to the accident is unknown at this stage,” Naidu said.

Naidu added that in the second
accident a 19-year-old teenager from Gelvandale was killed in an alleged
head-on collision on the corners of Cape Road and Brabant Road in Kabega Park.

“It is alleged that a white Chevy
Spark and grey VW Polo were involved. All injured persons were already taken to
hospital when police arrived.”

The deceased female was found in
the passenger seat of the Chevy Spark. Her name will be released once her next
of kin has been informed.
