A suspect was arrested after allegedly stabbing a man in the face in Kabega Park on Friday, September 2.

According to police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, at approximately 11:00, a SAPS K9 member was busy at the community service centre at SAPS Kabega Park, when a community member alerted him to a fight at the corner of Van Der Stel Drive and Northumberland Avenue.

“The community member informed Sgt. Damian Theron that a man was being attacked with a knife and that the suspect was still in the vicinity. Without any hesitation, Sgt. Theron responded and found the man that was assaulted and stabbed in the face,” Janse van Rensburg said.

“It is further alleged that the victim pointed out the suspect and the suspect was arrested on the scene. A knife was also confiscated. The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment,” she added.

The 26-year-old is detained on a charge of assault to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court today.
