Police in Gqeberha immediately implemented the 72-hour activation plan following the discovery of two bodies in a home in Motherwell yesterday, October 4.
It is alleged that on Monday evening, unknown suspect(s) entered a house in Bikana Street, NU 1 and fatally shot the couple. The woman, Zimkita Takuta (34) and three children were watching TV when she was shot in the head.
The suspect(s) then went into the bedroom and shot the husband, Siyabulela Takuta, several times. The couple’s 5-year-old son and his two cousins, aged 5 and 7 year, as well as another adult relative remained in the house until about 10:00 yesterday morning, when the mother of the two cousins went to fetch them.
According to police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, the motive for the murders is under investigation and the suspect(s) are unknown at this stage.
“The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation in Gqeberha are investigating two cases of murder,” she said.
