SAVE the dates of October 27-29, when the charm and entertainment of a Broadway-style production once again hits Gqeberha audiences with STAGED.

A fusion of dance expression such as tap, jazz, hip-hop, Broadway and contemporary dance styles, set with choreography, back drops and props to carefully curated music, will have audiences young and old toe-tapping and possibly singing along in their seats at The Savoy Theatre in Perridgevale.

It’s Simóne Blair, owner of Poise Dance Academy’s latest production and promises to be a great night out for the whole family.

There is a lot of fun to be had with all things “race car”, and a delightful tap number performed by the studio’s junior tap dancers who also bring their version of Greased Lightning to the stage later in the show.

Walt Disney characters enchant with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Feeling Good, a Michael Bublé number, performed by senior modern dance students, is exactly that and more – with high waist wide-legged pants, bodysuits, bowler hats and a whole lot of funk and sass.

Dancing to Chicago Strut and Doctor Jazz, ‘Jazz Me’ will be presented by the more accomplished dancers as 11 adult tap dancers, aged 27 to 83 perform, dressed in costumes inspired by the 1920s’ women’s fashion and a charming nod to ‘dancing through life’.

Look out for a guest appearance from Alvaro van Rensburg, a multi-award-winning hip-hop dancer and choreographer who will be performing a hip-hop solo.

“My goal is to have members of the audience completely entertained from beginning to end. I love to watch a show that leaves me wanting more and that’s exactly what I kept in mind whilst choreographing STAGED.

“Music choice is also very important to me, which is why my choices span across the decades and incorporate several music genres,” said Blair.

STAGED, a Poise Academy of Dance production, will be showcased at The Savoy Theatre from Thursday, October 27, to Saturday, October 29, each night at 19:30 with an accompanying matinée at 14:30 on the Saturday.

Tickets are R130 per person (available at Webtickets) and the show is a full 90 minutes.
