ENTRIES into the Klinicare Global Diabetes 5km have taken off for this month’s fund-raising event at the Boardwalk Mall.
The walk/run is set to be creating quite a stir in the Summerstrand area with its World Cup themes and aims to take participants “around the world” as they raise funds and awareness for Diabetes South Africa.
Klinicare will be front and centre on the route when its branches from all over the region compete to see which can offer the most authentic international experience in the quest to support this worthy cause.
Along with the epic experience on the route, participants can also look out for some great prizes at the event finish area with acknowledgement trophies for those who finish fastest and some great lucky draw prizes for all of those who stick around and enjoy what the Boardwalk and post event entertainment have to offer.
Prior to the event, the Department of Health’s diabetes section will offer to do tests, which take around 30 seconds, to inform people of their diabetes status, which is yet another way in which awareness is being raised.
Registration for the event is still available online but is now also possible at any of the Klinicare stores in Gqeberha. Entry into the event is only R150 and includes a free Klinicare Global Diabetes 5km T-shirt and goodie bag.
For extra encouragement all kids under the age of 10 will be allowed to participate in the event free of charge and get themselves tested by the friendly nursing staff.
All those wanting to enter online can do so on the website www.zsports.co.za/globalwalk. The event will also cater for late entries which will incur a R50 late entry fee.
Goodie bags and event T-shirts will be collectable on Thursday and Friday before the event. The race will start at 09:30 on Saturday, November 19.
