Nelson Mandela Bay entertainment lovers can look forward to a new movie that was not only written and produced locally, but also features actors from the Bay.
The B Team was written by local comedian and entertainer, Kurt Terblanche, better known as Boeta B.
The movie tells the story of Boeta B and his friends and how they end up becoming private investigators, investigating a case of infidelity.
Terblanche said that the movie focuses on self-belief and determination, even when the odds are stacked against you, and no one believes in you.
“We use satire to explore and educate on topical and socio-economic issues facing ordinary and often marginalised citizens of the metro and beyond,” Terblanche explained.
The cast includes Terblanche, comedian and entertainer, Francois Scholtz, and actors, Tessyn Bloemiers, Chardé Ingrim and Llywellen Primo in the lead roles. It also has a host of supporting actors and extras.
The premiere will take place on Friday, December 16, at the Boardwalk ICC, which will be preceded with a performance by Boeta B in his true Christmas fashion.
“With me playing different characters in the movie, it is the first of its kind in the metro with regard to this type of production in the style of Tyler Perry’s Madea and Eddie Murphy’s The Nutty Professor.
“The amateur movie scene is alive and well in the metro, but highly underrated. We hope to focus the spotlight on this industry and its future growth in the metro.
“We hope that children and young people from all walks of life will be able to aspire to form part of the very lucrative industry whether in production or on screen,” Terblanche added.
He mentioned that fans can also keep their eyes peeled for a brand new Boeta B Afrikaans talk show coming in 2023, which will focus on the lives of ordinary people in the Eastern Cape.
“Like the story in the movie, The B Team, about everyone who has self-belief and works hard enough to achieve their dreams, our young talented people in the metro should not be deterred by those who have an advantage (The A Team player) but rather focus on becoming the best version of themselves by never giving up,” he said.
The premiere of the movie is open to the public and will take place on December 16 at The Boardwalk ICC. The event will start at 19:00.
