A woman has drowned at Pollok Beach in Summerstrand at the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that on Sunday, at approximately 17:00, police attended to a complaint of a drowning at this beach.
“It is alleged that Ms Ziyanda Pheza (37) of Summerstrand was swimming when she experienced difficulty in the water. Lifeguards managed to bring her safely to shore, however, attempts by paramedics to resuscitate proved futile,” Naidu explained.
No foul play is suspected. An inquest has been opened.
