SAPS Algoa Park detectives arrested three suspects yesterday, January 17 for the murders of two young men in December last year.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that during the early morning hours of December 22, 2022 at approximately 02:00, police attended to a complaint of a body lying in a yard in Bloekom Street. On arrival they found the body of an 18-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.
“A few metres away, at the corners of Bloekom and Swarthout Streets, the body of a second teenager, also 18-years-old, was found lying with multiple stab wounds,” Naidu said.
Both teenagers are from Missionvale and were identified as Elthan Jonathan De Jager and Riaan Schutte.
“Since the murders, police have been working around the clock in search of the suspects. The suspects, aged between 21,22 and 32 years, were arrested at their homes in Algoa Park,” she said.
They are detained on two charges of murder and expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, January 19. The motive for the murders is under investigation.
