Victim of alleged hit-and-run found dead in ditch in Greenbushes

SAPS Kabega Park detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the next-of-kin of a man whose body was found in Greenbushes this morning, January 29. Police suspect that he was the victim of a hit-and-run.

SAPS Kabega Park detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the next-of-kin of a man whose body was found in Greenbushes this morning, January 29. 

Police suspect that he may have been the victim of a hit-and-run.

At approximately 07:30, police responded to a complaint of a car accident at the corner of Cape Road and Nxotyoi Drive, Greenbushes. On arrival, they found the body of the unknown man lying in a ditch next to the road with multiple injuries.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that upon further enquiries in the area, they received reports of an accident, however, the driver failed to stop.

“The body was found by pedestrians in the area. The deceased was dressed in blue jeans, a blue shirt, blue jersey, dark brown hoodie and white takkies,” she said. 

A culpable homicide case is under investigation.

Anyone who can assist in tracing the family of the person, may be able to identify the deceased or can furnish any information about the accident, is asked to contact SAPS Kabega Park on 082 302 6159 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. They can also visit the nearest police station or send information via the MYSAPSAPP.
