EASTERN CAPE Powerlifters recently competed at the SA Bench Press Championships in Potchefstroom, for a place in the SA Bench Press team.
Classic Bench Press Championships resuls:
. Charnleigh Kotze broke the SA junior open record under-69kg divisions, and the EC junior record with an 85kg bench press.
. Sunelle Putter broke the EC junior record in the 84+ division with an 87.5kg bench press.
. Janel Daffue broke the EC under-63kg bench press record with a 67.5kg bench press.
. Samuel Meshillnie broke the EC sub-junior record in the under-53 with a 75kg bench press.
. Yegi Williams broke the EC Master 2 record in the under-105kg with a 145kg bench press.
Equipped Bench Press Championships results:
. Vanessa Lessing broke the SA Master 1, EC open and Master 1 equipped bench press record with a 90kg bench press in the under-69 division.
. Elisabeth Barry broke the EC Master 2, under-47kg record with a 45kg bench press.
. Yegi Williams broke the EC Master 2 record in the under-105kg with a 145kg bench press.
They will be competing at the African Bench Press Championships in Potchefstroom on March 9–11 and in the World Classic and Equipped Bench Press Championships in Sun City on May 20–28.
